Akari Mizushima is a 14-year-old girl who lives in a small town in Japan. She's always been fascinated by the idea of Angelic Layer, a game where players use small dolls called "Angels" to fight each other. Akari's parents didn't approve of the game at first, but she convinced them to let her play by promising to do well in school and stay out of trouble.
