Akari MIZUSHIMA

Akari Mizushima is a 14-year-old girl who lives in Tokyo. She is a shy and introverted girl who is often bullied by her classmates. One day, she is walking home from school when she sees a strange girl fighting with a group of boys. The girl is wearing a strange outfit and has a pair of wings on her back. Akari is drawn to the girl and decides to follow her. The girl leads Akari to an abandoned building. Inside, Akari finds a group of people gathered around a large screen. The screen is showing a battle between two girls. The girls are fighting inside of giant robots called Angelic Layer. Akari is amazed by the battle and decides that she wants to learn how to fight in an Angelic Layer. Akari is taken to a training center where she learns how to pilot an Angelic Layer. She is also given a partner, a small robot called a Guardian. Akari trains hard and eventually becomes a skilled Angelic Layer fighter. She enters the Angelic Layer Tournament and wins the championship. Akari's victory makes her a national hero. She is given a medal and a parade is held in her honor.
