Carly was born on the Island of Sodor and has always been fascinated by machines and engines. She was built to be a crane engine, but her curiosity and love for adventure led her to explore other jobs on the island. One day, while helping out at the maintenance yard, she met Sandy, a blue crane engine who had just arrived on the island. The two became fast friends and started working together on various projects around the island.
